About Tathapi
Tathapi is a women’s organisation. Tathapi works in the area of 'Women and Health Resource Development', since its conception in 2000. The office is based in the western part of Maharashtra, India in the city of Pune.
The backbone of Tathapi’s work has been
- health
training and advocacy from women's perspectives, and
- striving to make women
and health resources accessible to local groups.
- A core area is 'Body Literacy', a concept that Tathapi developed, and that applies as an educational approach, with regard to Body, Gender, Sexuality, Fertility, and Power.
Tathapi uphold people's rights to health and to information. Tathapi sees gender equality - interwoven with struggles for economic and social equity - as essential towards 'Health for All'. Tathapi also defends the rights of local communities to conserve and develop their health and healing resources. Over the years the projects have widened to include working with children as they form the foundation for change and the potential for a world free from the clutches of discrimination, where there is no violence against women.
We also have an ongoing pilot project to understand notions of masculinity and develop interventions to work with men.
